Evergreen Solar Cedar Series Solar Modules

The Evergreen Solar Cedar Series of solar modules are made with patented string ribbon technology. Using this technique Evergreen Solar is able to produce a solar module using almost half as much silicon as other manufacturers. String ribbon manufacturing is also one of the most environmentally friendly solar module manufacturing processes in the world. They are available in a variety of wattages though each has a nominal 12 volt output. Open circuit voltage is approx 20 volts. Volts at maximum power is approximately 17. They have a 25 year warranty, though I have never seen one fail or have a manufacturing defect.

Because of the string ribbon produced cells, the cells almost appear to have a wrinkled look, also, the spacing and alignment between cells is not always perfect. These are minor issues that in no way affect the performance or functionality of the module, but some people want everything 'perfect'. And the modules are usually on a roof or top of pole mount anyway where no one looks at them.

My customers have never had any complaints about the Evergreen Solar Cedar Series modules and I have nothing bad to say about them. It's getting harder to find high powered 12 volt modules because the manufacturers are focusing on high voltage panels for grid tie or for off grid MX60 MPPT with voltage reduction use so let's hope Evergreen Solar continues to make these fine modules for years to come.
